A Proud Moment of PrincessHood...

The Princess "fixed" her hair for bedtime...2/19/10! The night of the ear peircing...2/16/10! It finally happened for Megan this week...her dream came true! She has been begging (very persistently I must add) for earrings for several months now. I DO NOT like younger toddlers/babies with earrings...just a personal preference...but I can't help it! And you would know that "Matt's" child wants earrings at age 3(in one month, age 4)! We kept telling her that if she would love and play with the new dog that we would think about letting her get them peirced. This is when she really began playing with Sugar!

I was going BY MYSELF to Dothan on Monday. Just as I was about to drop the girls off at daycare, CarrieBeth said, "Momma, are you going to work today?" I said no and told her I was going to Dothan. Being that my girls are always up for a road trip, they talked their way into going. I couldn't resist those puppy dog eyes! So off the three of us went to Dothan.

Megan was so determined to get her ears peirced! We had to wait about 30 minutes for the single worker of Claires to unbusy herself. I would feel sorry for a mom that was "making" her child undergo this torture! But I didn't have that to worry about because I wasn't the one carrying out this mission! CarrieBeth did not want to watch and told me that she didn't want to see Megan cry. I made her sit there anyway because I couldn't keep my eye on her. The first hole was punched and the crying began.

It was at that moment that I felt people were about to report me for abuse. The ear peircing "station" is right in the window of the store, facing the mall...how more embarrassing could it get? All I managed to selfishly get out of my mouth was, "She is the one that wanted to do this, I promise!"...The security guard who was in the store, looked down at CarrieBeth and said "I think she's gonna be sick". When I looked at her, she had her hands cupped over her mouth and was pale. I had already told Megan during our wait that if she got #1 ear done, she had to get #2 pierced. I was very afraid that she would fight on the 2nd one...I wanted her to know that I would then sit on her and force her to follow through with the #2 ear.

Through her determination, she carried through with #2. When the woman got the mirror out and showed her, the attitude changed and the tears dried quickly! It was a proud moment for her!

She has pushed that blonde hair back more times to showcase her jewels than I can count...She requested a "big mirror" for her room since then. Matt and I haven't hung it yet. I would say that I think we have created a monster, but I think the monster just wants to be a princess. You can't blame her there! Now that its over, I don't regret our decision to let her go ahead. It won't matter in 20, 10 or even 5 years.

And to answer the popular question....No, CarrieBeth still does not have her ears peirced. She has no interest at this point! And that is great with me!!!!CarrieBeth enjoys coming home and putting on her "home" clothes as she calls them...she is just ready to be comfortable!

And, don't let me forget, that Mr. Willie Cook was the first person to welcome the earrings as he was waiting on Mrs. Cook to finish shopping! The girls always talk about Mr. Willie and think he's the best..so who better to first see this proud moment!!
