I started out my day earlier than normal because I knew that I had to take Sugar to the Doggy Spa and meet Beth to go to a meeting in Luverne. I grabbed my extra set of keys because I was running too late to look for my regular keys that obviously were hidden in the depths of a messy house! I shuttled the girls to Mrs. Pinson so that she could take them to school/daycare when she took Andrew. I carried Sugar with me in our usual "homemade kennel" which consists of two clothesbaskets tied together with whatever hair ribbons we can find! It was 7:45 when I got to Andalusia...and I had to meet Beth at 7:45 at the office. So I parked at Leslie's, got Sugar out the back, and ran in practically throwing Sugar to her and told her I was in a huge hurry! She was so sweet and just told me to put her down and go! That I did!...of course, as I posted on Facebook later in the day, WITHOUT closing the back door to my car. Sugar had a little "stinch" so I had the windows rolled down a little. I remember exactly what was going through my mind..."I cannot wait to sit down at that meeting and just rest!" When I got to about Ansley Place, I started listening to the noise level in the car...I looked back and saw pavement moving! I just about wet my pants....I wheeled into Ansley Place and closed my door! When Beth picked me up I was crying and laughing at the same time. We had a few bursts during the day when we thought about it!
We carried on to the training...we had an ex-FBI man talking to us about "looking" "listening", etc...of course he was talking about noticing human behavior while interviewing, but maybe I should have picked up on it for my life!! Beth was about to blow a gasket to leave and 4:00 finally came. Oh did it!
Beth dropped me off at DHR...I was in another hurry to go pick up Sugar from the doggy spa. Beth drove off...I could NOT find my extra set of keys! I went through her car and mine (She came back)...NO KEYS! I dreaded doing it, but I called Matt to look for my regular keys...he and Mrs. Pinson looked all through the house but could not find them. Kim happened to be working late (which is often for us lately!) and took me to get Sugar...she was laughing about me bringing out 2 clothesbaskets tied together. I was still CERTAIN that I could find my keys at the house if I could just get there! Kim dropped me back off at the office...Sugar and I just sat there with the cleaning man with no way to go (but she looked clean and cute!). I asked the Luverne Police to look for my keys in the parking lot we were in...that's right...I put a BOLO out on the keys! Matt and the girls drove up...I felt like I was a child about to get a spanking when I saw his face! When we got home, there were of course NO KEYS! The police called...NO KEYS! After about an hour we realized we had been to mother's house last night...my regular keys had been located! SOOOO, I head over to mother's...
BY THIS TIME EVERYONE IS THINKING ABOUT HAVING ME COMMITTED!
On the way back, I notice a police car with lights on behind me...I didn't even stop right away. I knew I was going 45 ish...when I came to the realization that he was coming for me, I stopped. I REALLY didn't know what I had done...come to find out I didn't move into the opposite lane when they had someone pulled over on the side of the road...it ended up it was Correy Boothe writing the other person the ticket and he felt the wind from my car!...being in DHR I have worked with the other officer some and he recognized my face. Of course, Correy came up then...how embarrassing...Kim had told him about my keys earlier...I called Kim, but truthfully didn't know whether to cry or laugh...All I could think about was, if you think that was bad, you should have seen me this morning with my door open through town!!!!
We went BACK to Andalusia and retrieved my lonely car.
I am now off the roads...they are considered safe...tomorrow is a new day...I am going to bed now! How can someone lose 2 sets of keys, drive unknowingly with the door open, spend quality time with the cleaning man, AND get pulled over from breaking the law ALL IN ONE DAY! Oh let's don't forget we were at a training with POLICE and Beth drove backwards on a one way street today!
Poor Megan didn't get to go to her first tball game...Mother asked me if she could take the girls permanently to her home! haha!
hang in there Natalie you could be a
